Tony started his career in 1973 by joining Sun Life Assurance in the London City sales office. After having spent nearly 25 years in sales and marketing roles, he ended this stint in 1997 in Bristol, with roles as Business Development Manager within Sun Life and as a Director of Sun Life Technical Services. Having worked as an IFA with firms such as Sedgwick Noble Lowndes and PwC he left this environment to return to marketing firstly with AMP NPI, and subsequently in 2003 with the BBB group, where he drove the development and launch of bespoke and specialist insolvency SIPPs. As Director of Berkeley Berry Birch Pensions Ltd, he was also responsible for the development of strategic marketing plans.
In August 2005, he rejoined the AXA Sun Life senior marketing team, working within Pensions and Savings Policy, and leading on the development of the individual pensions market, with particular focus on the re establishment of AXA as a leader in both SSAS and SIPP self invested pensions. Appointed to lead the AXA pensions proposition team in July 2007, he was responsible for a combined AXA and Winterthur Wealth Management pension proposition and leading on various regulatory consultations. He was also responsible for the development and launch of the AXA Family SIPP.
Since then Tony has had roles at Barnett Waddingham and MC Trustees.
He is also a committee member of the Association of Member-directed Pension Schemes (AMPS), a member of the AMPS FSA liaison team and chairs the AMPS compliance sub committee.
He is married to Carole with two sons, Paul and David, and spends as much time as he can in the wilderness of the African bush – particularly on his friends farm in Botswana.
